A protected source
The unique and protected ecosystem of Murdjadjo allowed the emergence of the sources of Messerghine.
It is said that in the past, the valley ofMesserghine sheltered a cave from which naturally flowed pure and fresh water, throughout the year.
The first written record, however, dates from Roman times, when the city of Gilva - current Messerghine - captured water from the mountains of Murdjadjo and channeled it through aqueducts to the Roman baths and other reservoirs of the city .
This ancient city, now disappeared, left behind vestiges that can be discovered here and there, around a walk.
